WOMEN GIVING: WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR

Thank you for your interest in Women Giving for Spartanburg, a women’s giving circle created in 2007 as a special project of The Spartanburg County Foundation.
Our mission is straightforward: to maximize women’s leadership in philanthropy by engaging and informing our membership, increasing charitable contributions, and significantly improving the greater Spartanburg community through the impact of collective giving.
Our process is simple: Through a variety of events, we bring our members together to learn more about the needs and opportunities in our community. Once a year, WGFS awards high-impact grants ($25,000 or more) to programs serving the needs of our citizens.
In May 2011, Women Giving for Spartanburg awarded over $298,000 to nine nonprofit organizations; the largest grant pool in our four-year existence. During these times when demand for nonprofit services is high and funding is low, the compassionate spirit of Women Giving members is constant! Since our founding in 2007, Women Giving has granted over $1,000,000 to impact five core areas of need: education, health and human services, arts and culture, and the environment.
We hope you’ll consider joining us on this exciting mission to effect positive change. As our circle continues to grow, so does the power to make a difference in the lives of our citizens and the quality of life in our community.
