The Foundation's
capacity to serve the Spartanburg community is directly tied to its ability
to preserve and enhance financial assets. To this end, the board of trustees
has developed investment policies and guidelines that assure prudent asset
management. Over the past 21 years, The Foundation has averaged an 10.1%
return on investment.
In March, 2007, The Spartanburg County Foundation received notification
that it met the nation's highest standards for operational quality, integrity
and accountability as a National Standards Foundation.
The National Standards compliance effort for U.S. Community Foundations
is administered by the Council on Foundations, a Washington, DC-based
nonprofit membership association of more than 2,000 grantmaking foundations
and corporations world-wide.
Meeting these rigorous standards assures the Spartanburg public of the
Foundation's ability to achieve its mission to strengthen the community
and help donors achieve their personal charitable goals.
